Sabrina Afemata
My name is Sabrina Afemata, and I am the founder of Fitsistership, a wellness movement built on the belief that true health is created through the connection of mind, body, and spirit. Health was not always a priority in my life growing up, but as an adult, I made the decision to transform my relationship with health and make it an important part of my lifestyle. Through my own journey, I discovered that wellness is not just about fitness or nutrition—it is about faith, community, accountability, and having support through every season of life. I believe mental health is a vital part of our overall well-being, and that healing and growth happen when we are surrounded by people who encourage and uplift us.
I am blessed to be married to my husband for 25 years and am a proud mother of 6 children and grandmother of 2 grandchildren. I wish to build a legacy of wellness for generations to come. As an entrepreneur and wellness advocate, I have dedicated my time to creating spaces where individuals and families feel empowered to prioritize their health. My background includes certifications as a Spin Instructor and former Xtreme Hip Hop Instructor, along with years of experience encouraging others through movement and fitness. I have participated in numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, a half marathon, and completed a triathlon, continuing to challenge myself while inspiring others to believe they are capable of more. Beyond fitness, I am passionate about advocating for mental health awareness and creating opportunities for communities to come together through movement, faith, and connection. Through Fitsistership, my mission is to remind others that health is a journey—not a destination—and that we are stronger when we walk that journey together. Why I Started Fitsistership Fitsistership was created from a deep desire to build a safe, supportive, and empowering space for Pasifika women to prioritize themselves and their health. I saw the need for more spaces where women who look like us could feel seen, valued, and encouraged throughout their wellness journey. For many of us, taking care of ourselves has often come after taking care of everyone else. I wanted to create a community that reminds Pasifika women that we are worthy of investing in our own health, our dreams, and our well-being. Representation matters. We need more women who look like us to see that we belong in fitness spaces, wellness conversations, leadership roles, and opportunities that allow us to grow. Our stories, our culture, and our strength deserve to be represented. Fitsistership is more than a fitness community—it is a movement built on faith, connection, accountability, and empowerment. My vision is to create a place where women can come as they are, support one another, and become the healthiest versions of themselves while inspiring the next generation to do the same. Through Fitsistership, I hope to continue breaking barriers, creating opportunities, and reminding our Pasifika community that wellness is for us too.
